Saint Augustine

Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States built in St. Augustine, the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement and port in the continental United States. Founded in September 1565 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, serving as the capital of Spanish Florida for two hundred years.
